Quick Trip with the Family!

Steve has been asking me all week what I would like for my birthday and I couldn't decide exactly what I wanted. Then, since the kids and I were out of school on Thursday and Friday for Fall Break, I decided that it would be fun to go up to SLC and stay overnight in a hotel and then go to Park City and shop at the outlets from Friday afternoon to Saturday night. So we got it all arranged, you gotta love the deals on hotels at Priceline! At first, the kids (mainly the boys) did not want to go at all. They just wanted to stay home and play with their friends. I had to keep reminding me that this was for my birthday and they didn't really have a choice anyway. We left around 3:00 on Friday and headed up to the Gateway. We thought it would be fun to go to The Clark Planetarium. I took the kids there a few years ago, but Steve has never been. These next few pictures are of the kids looking at all of the exhibits there. I took tons more pictures but none of them turned out. The lighting was really bad there, but I'm not sure why the pictures didn't work.

We got on a huge elevator. The kids thought that was pretty cool.

Steve, Brenden, Josie and Kate went to the 3D movie, which they really liked alot. Taylor and I decided that we would rather go shopping at the Gateway. I know this is totally surprising to anyone who knows Taylor. He absolutely HATES to shop. But, for some reason, he wanted to go shopping with me. He and I had a blast. We went to lots of the cool stores up there and saw some fun stuff. I really enjoyed just hanging out with him for a little while. The next 2 pictures are of us just hanging out on the streets of the Gateway. We were waiting for Steve and Taylor and got a little picture happy. It was really fun.

After we had dinner, went to the movie and did a little shopping, we headed back to our hotel to go swimming in the pool. It was pretty fun, even though the water was really cold. We ended up spending most of the time in the hot tub, which was fine with me. It was nice and relaxing. After we got done swimming we got dressed and headed out for a late night snack. It was fun, because that is not something that we usually do at our house. When we got back to the hotel, everyone was SO tired and we went right to bed.

When we woke up the next morning, we just got ready, checked out of our hotel and went to breakfast. The kids all wanted to go to Carl's Jr. to get their French Toast sticks. It wouldn't have been my first choice, but it was fun and the kids really loved it. Since we were so close to the Energy Solutions Arena, Taylor HAD to stop and get some pictures next to the John Stockton and Karl Malone statues. All of the kids really enjoyed this.

This is Taylor putting his hand in the mold of Karl Malone's handprint. Holy Cow! He is one big guy! Taylor thought that was so cool.
He sure has big feet, too.
Then we headed up to Park City to do a little shopping. I LOVE to go to Park City to shop. There are a few stores that I ALWAYS find great deals in. The kids got a little restless, but I was able to go on a shopping spree for my birthday while they hung out at the park. We didn't last too long there, but I was able to get the stuff that I wanted.

All in all, it was a really fun trip. I think that everyone really had a good time and enjoyed being together.
