On June 10th, we had the opportunity to go to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House. The kids were really excited to be able to go inside another temple and I was really looking forward the experience as well. As we got close to the temple, it started to rain. It was the worst rainstorm I think I have ever been in. We couldn't even hear each other talk inside the car because the rain was coming down so hard. We decided to wait until it let up a little before we got out of the car. As soon as we got out it started another downpour. We had to park about 2 blocks away so we just started running as fast as we could to get to the tents for protection. I was carrying Kate and Steve was carrying Josie. I can't believe I didn't break my ankle running in heels. When we got to the tents, they weren't set up right next to each other so everytime you walked to the next one, a sheet of water would come down on your head. I had just cleaned out my car the day before and put away 2 umbrellas that have been inside the car for months. Talk about bad luck.
We could not have been wetter if we had jumped into a swimming pool. I didn't handle this very well and Steve had to tell me to relax and let it go. We were freezing and so wet as we walked through the temple. It distracted me so much that I can't hardly even remember what it looked like inside. Definitely not one of my finest moments. As we went through the temple, the temple workers kept smiling at me and commenting on how wet I was. After I relaxed a little bit, we did have a good time and I am grateful for the opportunity to take my kids.
You can't really tell in this picture but we are sopping wet and shivering. An experience I don't think we will ever forget.
