This weekend has been lots of fun so far. Taylor has been playing in a baseball tournament and his team has played amazingly well. They played 2 games on Friday and played really good. They had two more games last night and they came out and played the best I have ever seen them play. They even made a triple play! It was so much fun to watch. Since they have won all of their games so far in the tournament they get to move onto more games on Monday (weather permitting). I am just so excited for these boys. They are playing so well as a team and it is so fun to watch such great baseball. After their games on Friday we took them to watch the high school team play in the state championship game. They won and the boys really had a great time. I am so glad that Taylor has such a great team to play on and such great friends on his team. They get along so well and just really love to be together. It is so fun to watch. Hopefully they can keep their streak going tomorrow!! (If it will ever stop raining!!!)
Today we spent some time at the cemetery remembering those who have passed on. It is so beautiful at the cemetery and I really enjoy being able to see all of the pretty flowers there at this time of year. It just got me thinking about all of the people who have died defending our country. I am so grateful to live in this wonderful country and that there are people who are willing to put their lives on the line for us to be free. What a blessing that is for all of us.
Of course, being at the cemetery made me think of my dad and how much I miss him. I wish that I could just talk to him one last time. There is so much that I would like to say.
I was also thinking of my Grandma Houghton. She died when I was 16 years old, so about 18 years ago! Wow! That seems like forever ago. She was such a wonderful grandma and even though it has been a long time I still miss her, too. When I was little I spent alot of time with her and she was such an important part of my life. My Grandpa Douglas died about 4 years ago. He was such a great guy, too. I can still picture him in my mind walking into the ball park carrying his lawnchair, coming to watch us play softball. He was such a great person and a wonderful example to me.
Memorial Day is such a great day to remember all those have died. I am grateful for all of these wonderful people who have influenced my life in so many ways. I am grateful that I can take this time to reflect on their lives and the great examples that they have been to me. I hope that I can live my life in a way that would always make them proud of me because I am so proud of them.
I hope that everyone has a wonderful and safe Memorial Day!!!
